Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injection

A lumbar epidural steroid injection eases lower back pain and radiating sciatic leg pain caused by herniated discs or spinal stenosis. Steroid medication is placed into the epidural space around the affected nerves under imaging guidance, reducing inflammation and relieving pain.

What it treats

This procedure is commonly used to treat Lower Back Pain, Sciatica and Spinal Stenosis.

How it works

Using fluoroscopic guidance, Dr. Taheem injects anti-inflammatory steroid into the epidural space around the irritated lumbar nerve roots. This reduces the swelling driving the back and leg pain.

What to expect

One of the most common and effective interventional pain procedures, it takes about 15-20 minutes with minimal downtime. Relief can build over a few days and last weeks to months, supporting progress in rehabilitation.
